EXCEPTIONAL AND ACQUIRED WOUND-HEALING COMPLICATIONS

1996
SUMMARY Wound healing classically follows an organized scheme of events. Each event is not a separate individual mechanism but is a continuum of processes. Multiple factors and mechanisms are involved. Any alteration of these mechanisms may lead to impaired wound healing. We have reviewed the salient effects that various agents have on wound healing. Further investigation into specific wound-healing defects caused by these agents should help us manipulate the woundhealing environment to augment proper wound healing.
