Selection and Use of Press Fabrics for Wood-free Paper Machine

Our No. 10 paper machine is operated in a broad range of production conditions ; i.e., the products of the machine include coated paper (both high and middle grade) and wood-free paper, the basis weight of products ranges from 35 to 130 g/m2, and the machine speed varies from 600 to 1, 220 m/min. In addition, the grade changes take place twice a day on the average. For those reasons, it has been quite challenging to select a felt for the press part which can be suitable for all production conditions, and we have been continuously seeking a better felt since the start-up four years ago.In this report, we review several important points in selecting a felt, from our experience in operation and quality control at No. 10 paper machine.
