Relationship between VEGF - C and HER - 2 expressed in human breast cancer

2007
Objective To study the relationship between vascular endothelia growth factor- C ( VEGF -C) and HER - 2 expressed in human breast cancer. Methods S - P immunobistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of VEGF - C and HER - 2 in 42 cases of primary breast cancer. Results Among 42 cases of breast cancer, the positivity rate of VEGF- C was 71.4% (30/42). The positivity expression of VEGF -C in primary breast cancer with lymph node metastasis 90.9% was obviously higher than that in no lymph node metastasis cases 50.0% ( X^2= 6.70 〉 6.63, P 〈 0. 01 ) ; and HER - 2 was overexpressed in 38.1% ( 16/42 ) of breast cancer; HER - 2 expression level was correlated with lymph node metastasis ( X^2 = 4.95 〉 3.84, P 〈 0. 05). The expression of VEGF -C in HER -2 positive breast cancer was significantly higher than that in HER- 2 negative breast cancer( P 〈0.05). Conclusion The expression of VEGF- C and HER-2 was related to local lymph node metastasis in primary breast cancer; VEGF -C can express in primary breast cancer independent. But the expression of HER -2 of tumor ceils can contribute to secretion of VEGF - C. Key words: Breast cancer; Vascular endothelia growth factor- C; HER -2; Tumor metastasis
