Analysis of the influence factors on clinical outcome of endovascular embolization for traumatic carotid cavernous fistula

2004
Objective To study the influencing of clinical outcome factors on endovascular embolization for traumatic carotid cavernous fistula (TCCF). Methods The clinical data, therapeutic methods and following-up outcome of 116 patients with traumatic carotid cavernous fistula were recorded and statistically analyzed. Results ①There was a significant difference in the rate of ICA patency between the left side (96.3%) and the right side (79.4%, P 0.01). ②The side, type 1 and type 2 balloon were proved to be relative with the patency of ICA (P 0.05). ③Press the CCA was proved to be harmful to recovery of pulsating exophthalmos (P 0.05). Conclusion ①The rate of ICA patency in the left side is higher than in the right side. ②The side, type 1 and type 2 balloon are main influencing factors on the patency of original ICA after endovascular embolization for the treatment of TCCF. ③Press the CCA is proved to be relative with recovery of pulsating exophthalmos.
