Fault Detection For Improved WWTPS Control

Abstract A method based on the examination of the trajectory in a Principal Components space of the characteristics of the Oxygen Uptake Rate (OUR) curve obtained in a respirometry test is proposed to improve the detection of faults in activated sludge wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Due to slow modifications of the trajectory in normal situations a continuous up-date of the trajectory is necessary. Simulation results and experimental results obtained on a full-scale wastewater plant are presented.
