Purification of lead chloride for USE as high-temperature solvent in the growth of crystals of II-VI compounds

1988
Abstract A process for removing oxygen impurities from PbCl 2 is described which consists of three steps: Chlorination with gaseous SiCl 4 , high-temperature filtration of the molten PbCl 2 and directional solidification into largely monocrystalline ingots of defined diameters.
