Comparison of Gender Differences between Dominant Eye and Non-Dominant Eye

2017
Purpose: The determinants between dominant eye and non-dominant eye were investigated, and analyzed according to adult gender. Methods: The dominant eye of 92 adults was determined using the Hole-in-the-card method. The intraocular pressure, the equivalent refractive power, the astigmatism, and the kappa angle were measured. The differences between dominant eye and non-dominant eye were compared with gender. Results: The intraocular pressure (p=0.570) and the equivalent refractive power (p=0.465) were not statistically significant according to gender. The astigmatism of dominant eye in male was also significantly larger, and the binocular astigmatism in male was also significant (p=0.012). The kappa angle of dominant eye and non-dominant eye in female was significantly larger, and the binocular kappa angle in female was statistically significant (p=0.002). Conclusions: When the characteristics of dominant eye and non-dominant eye were compared by gender, the results showed that the astigmatism and the kappa angle were significantly larger in mail and female, respectively.
