Effect of K2CO3 addition on the microstructure and magnetic properties of Sr-Ferrites

2017
Abstract High performance Sr-ferrites with optimized microstructure were synthesized by low temperature calcination ceramics (LTCC) technology with trace of K 2 CO 3 . The effects of K 2 CO 3 additives on the microstructure and magnetic properties of the ferrites were studied. The phase characterization of the calcined particles was studied by X-ray diffraction. The microstructures of the calcined particles and sintered ferrites were observed by scanning electron microscopy. The particle size of the as-milled powder was measured by laser diffraction particle size analyzer. The magnetic properties of the sintered ferrites were measured by a B-H loop recorder. The results show that, non-agglomerated and optimum-sized Sr-Ferrite particles with single SrFe 12 O 19 phase could be fabricated with the addition of 0.5 ∼ 0.75 wt% K 2 CO 3 . Ultrafine grained ferrites with enhanced magnetic properties could be fabricated by using these Sr-Ferrite particles as precursor.
