T h ro m b o p rophylaxis with low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) is effective in reducing the risk of deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients with plas t e r-cast inmovilization of the lower limb. It is ne c e s s a ry to treat 23 patients (CI 95 %: 13 to 84, p<0,05) during about 20 days, for the pre v e n t i o n of one DVT.
