Abstract Disodium cromoglycate, a chromone derivative, has been shown by others to prevent or diminish the asthmatic attack induced by allergenic exposure and to diminish or relieve the symptoms of asthma in a number of controlled clinical trials. A double-blind crossover study with 27 trials was carried out: In 17 trials the drug was identified as helpful, in 4 the placebo was regarded as helpful, and there was no opinion in 6.
