Hyperfine wavelength division multiplexing (HWDM) based on the virtually-imaged phased-array (VIPA)

2005
In this research we have investigated characteristics and applications of a novel optical spectral disperser termed virtually-imaged phased-array (VIPA) [1]. Here we summarize our work on an eight-channel hyperfine VIPA-based wavelength demultiplexer as well as a hyperfine VIPA-based blocking filter and their applications in a 4-user ~3 GHz-spaced hybrid SCM-HWDM lightwave fiber communication system.
