Coagulation Factor Concentrates

2015
Coagulation factor concentrates represent an important part of the armamentarium of drugs available for perioperative management of bleeding and non-bleeding patients. Four such concentrates will be reviewed, fibrinogen, factor XIII, prothrombin complex concentrates, and recombinant activated factor VII. The first three products represent isolated coagulation factor concentrates, while the last one is a recombinant protein. Indications, efficacy and safety, monitoring, and dosing will be discussed and key points given. The chapter will close with a discussion of threshold and target values.
