Shapes of nuclei in the inner crust of a neutron star
2008
Nuclear shapes in the inner crust of a neutron star is discussed in the compressible liquid‐drop model and the Thomas‐Fermi model. We also calculate the shell energies of non‐spherical nuclei. We conclude that non‐spherical nuclei exist in the density region (1.0−1.5)×1014 g/cm3.
