Evaluation of Shale Oil as a Utility Gas Turbine Fuel

1982
This paper discusses the operation of a gas turbine engine using the shale oil residual as a fuel and petroleum distillate oil residual as fuels, with and without water injection. Included are data on the modifications that were required for the use of such fuels for adequate combustion. The use of hot water injection was successfully demonstrated, with reduced emissions of nitric oxides in the exhaust gases and low smoke.
