THE U.S. CONVENTIONAL TAGGING DATABASE UPDATES FOR ATLANTIC WHITE MARLIN (1954-2008)

SUMMARY The conventional tagging information for white marlin ( Tetrapturus albidus ), is comprised of data from the National Marine Fisheries Service’(NMFS), Southeast Fisheries Science Center’s Cooperative Tagging Center (1954-2008), The Billfish Foundation (1990-2008), the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources’ Marine Gamefish Tagging Program (1974-2008) and the NMFS/Northeast Fisheries Science Center’s Shark Tagging Program (1962-2007). The updated tag release and recapture files were examined relative to providing insight into the stock structure for this species.
