API LEVEL III INSPECTION OF MISSISSIPPI CANYON 194 A (COGNAC)

In 1988 Shell Offshore Inc. (SOI) performed an API level III inspection of the Mississippi Canyon 194 A (Cognac) platform in 1025 fsw and Mississippi Canyon 311 platform in 1025 fsw and Mississippi Canyon 311 A (Bourbon) platform in 425 fsw using a remotely operated vehicle (ROV). This paper presents experience gained by SOI during the inspection and shows that a ROV can be used to perform cost-effective inspections of deepwater structures. Average member and inspection rates and inspection efficiencies are presented.
