Access point (AP) discovery method and apparatus

Disclosed are an access point (AP) discovery method and apparatus. The method is applied in a neighbour-aware network (NAN). The NAN comprises a first device and a second device. The method comprises: the first device sending a query message to the second device via the NAN, wherein the query message is used for searching for an access point (AP); and receiving a response message sent by the second device with regard to the query message, wherein the response message contains at least one piece of AP description information obtained by the second device. By means of the method and apparatus provided in the present invention, the problem in the prior art that too many air interface resources will be wasted in an access point (AP) discovery method is solved.
