Análise do mercado de trabalho odontológico na região norte do Brasil

Objective: To evaluate the job market for dental surgeons, within their different specialties, in the North region of Brazil, in addition to evaluating dental surgeon/inhabitant and specialist/inhabitant ratios. The study aims to better understand the trends in this profession, and also suggests fields of professional activity. Materials and Methods: Data was collected from the Brazilian National Council of Odontology and the Brazilian National Institute of Geography and Statistics. Results: Acre, Amazonas, Amapa and Para are the states within this region that have lower professional/inhabitant ratio levels than recommended by the World Health Organization (1:1,500), as opposed to the states of Roraima, Rondonia and Tocantins. This region concentrates 3.73% of all dental surgeons in Brazil. Conclusions: The job market for specialists in the North region in the fields of Bucomaxillofacial Prosthetics, Odontogeriatrics, Mouth Pathology, Dentistry for patients with special needs, Workplace Dentistry and Stomatology feature the best specialist/inhabitant ratio, while the fields of Orthodontics and Endodontics have higher specialist/inhabitant ratios.
