Room-temperature spectral hole-burning observed from a thin film of SrFC1xBr(1 − x):Sm2+

1995
Abstract For the purpose of applying spectral hole-burning materials to the optical data storage media, we have made a thin film sample of SrFCl x Br (1 − x ) : Sm 2+ by evaporation deposition method. A spectral hole was burned and observed at room temperature in the thin film sample for the first time. It was found that the depth of the hole was dependent on the temperature of substrate during the deposition process, and that there was an optimum value of the substrate temperature to give the deepest hole.
