Reversal of pyrithiamine-induced growth inhibition ofSaccharomyces cerevisiae by oxythiamine

1984
Oxythiamine reversed the growth inhibition ofSaccharomyces cerevisiae caused by pyrithiamine, although oxythiamine alone inhibited yeast cell growth. This phenomenon was explained by thiamine production from these 2 thiamine antagonists which was demonstrated using cell suspensions and the crude extract ofS. cerevisiae.
