Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is one of the most important issues that cause disability in pediatric level; however, there is shallow information about the implications and effects on social skills research. Social skills are relevant for its relational contribution, and its influence in other areas of life. Studies in children have shown that lack of assertive social skills favors the appearance of dysfunctional behaviors in family and school environments. When there is an interruption in development, including the formation of personality and social skills during childhood, the consequences can be very unfavorable. In the case of TBI the influence of various factors such as the size and site of injury, the mechanism that caused the trauma, medical care after the accident, surgical management, and prognosis have a greater impact or lower on cognitive processes. The aim of this review is to make a compilation of various studies, definitions and concepts with which to understand the relevance of the effects of head trauma in social functioning. This work provides insight about the social consequences in family, school, and interpersonal environment supporting the comprehensive knowledge to various specialists (psychologists, neurologists, neuropsychologists, educators and teachers) are informed about how these changes will impact the tracking case as nonspecific attention could exacerbate the consequences in adulthood complicating rehabilitation and organization.
