A new lignan from Gardenia jasminoides.

2010
Objective To study the chemical constituents in 60% ethanol extract from the fruit of Gardenia jasminoides. Methods The compounds were isolated by various chromatographic techniques and identified by spectroscopic methods. Results Twelve compounds were obtained and identified as gar-denianan A (1),syringaresinol (2),pinoresinol (3),syringaresinol-4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (4),lariciresinol (5),alangilignoside D (6),lyoniresinol (7),lyoniresinol-9-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (8),balanophonin (9),glycosmisic acid (10),ficusal (11),and ceplignan (12). Conclusion Compound 1 is a new compound named gardenianan A. Compounds 2-6 and 9-12 are reported for the first isolation from the plants of Gardenia Ellis.
