Soda ash production plant has been generating millions of tons of waste lime. It has been
buried or placed in the plant for a long time because a large amount of generated waste lime
has not been found the place or demand to deal. An appropriate treatment of waste lime has
emerged as a social necessity, because of raising as environmental, property and health
problems. Especially, the secondary environmental pollution and safety are concerned as
negative impact on the stability reported such as vegetation and water quality, building cracks
and subsidence, etc. due to leachate of waste lime. This paper examined the possibility of
processing waste lime applying the In Situ Vitrification (ISV) technology to process the waste
lime with stable, environmentally and friendly. To do so, we derived the optimal glass
composition for the waste lime and soil mixture using the glass property evaluation computer
code and off-gas properties evaluated that occurs when vitrified waste lime. In addition, we
proposed a process and apparatus suitable for domestic waste lime vitrification.
