MobileMETU:A Mobile Campus project based on web services

The number of university students increases every year, smart phone use becomes widespread and students want to socialize with social network such as Facebook. These show that young people want to learn from anywhere and instant information. However, mobile applications for campus life are rare. The aim of this research makes campus life easier by providing mobile implementations. To achieve this aim Mobile Campus application was developed and campus of Middle East Technical University was selected as a pilot application. This research creates value added facilities by means of extendable usage behaviors. This study is a pioneer in the field that integrates mobile technologies and standards-based web services by using the service-based architecture.
