Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida interaction in AgDy

Abstract Measurements of the electrical and magnetic properties of Ag-Dy were performed. The effective magnetic moment is close to the Dy 3+ free ion value. The paramagnetic Curie temperature is negative and increases linearly with dysprosium concentration. The lattice sums for the Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida model were obtained by the Monte Carlo method. The calculated θ p values are in agreement with the experimental values. At temperatures below 40 K magnetic anomalies are observed for concentrations above 0.4 at.% Dy. Possible mechanisms are discussed.
