Background. Bladder cancer is the second most frequent neoplasm of the urinary system, and the fifth cause of death in males. In Mexico there was an increase from 11 to 14 x 100,000 inhabitants from 1985 to 1994. Several researchers have studied the effect and role of the cellular cycle regulating proteins. The p53 suppressor gene, frequently implicated in several tumors plays a still debated role in bladder cancer. Objective.
