Clinical observation of effect of Ivabradine in the treatment of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease complicated with angina pectoris

2016
Objective To investigate the safety and efficacy of Ivabradine in treatment of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) complicated with angina pectoris. Methods A total of 32 patients with COPD and angina pectoris were randomly divided into two groups: routine drug treatment group (control group) and Ivabradine (5 mg, twice daily) treatment group (observation group), 16 patients in each group.Heart rates (HR), Borg scores, 6 minutes walk test (6MWT) and the onset times of angina pectoris were recorded one week before enrollment and 1, 4 and 12 weeks after treatment. Results In control group, the episodes of angina pectoris was reduced after 12 weeks. In Ivabradine group, HR decreased at 1, 4 and 12 weeks after treatment, episodes of angina pectoris reduced and the distance of 6MWT increased at 4 and 12 weeks after treatment.Compared with the control group, HR was lower while episodes of angina pectoris reduced and the distance of 6MWT increased significantly in Ivabradine group at 1, 4 and 12 weeks after treatment.Borg scores did not show significant difference between the 2 groups. Conclusions Ivabradine is safe and effective for the patients with COPD complicated with angina pectoris.Clinical symptoms could be improved by Ivabradine on the basis of routine medication. Key words: Ivabradine; Pulmonary disease, chronic obstructive; Angina pectoris; 6 minutes walk test
