Control effects of four bacterial strains on wheat scab (Fusarium graminearum)

1994
Laboratory inhibition and fermentation tests as well as greenhouse and field control experiments on Fusarium graminearum with soil, phylloplane bacillus and competitive spherical bacterium strains from different geographical environments were conducted. The results showed the four strains YN1, GJ6, SNS1 and Y-12 had significant control effects on wheat scab. YN1 and GJ6 strains, two kinds of bacillus strongly inhibited conidia germination and hyphae growth. The bacillus strain SNS1 could deform germ tube and retard hyphae growth. The nutritionally competitive spherical strain Y-12 could not inhibit conidia germination and hyphae growth, but field trials showed that the level of control effects of YN1, GJ6, SNS1, and Y-12 were not significantly different from that of MBC(alpha=0.01). So these strains could be considered as valuable candidates for wheat scab control.
