Improvement of driveability, handling and driving comfort for commercial vehicles

Because of the wide variety of truck build specifications offered, it is becoming increasingly difficult to complete system functional optimisation within a short period of time. In most cases vehicle components are optimised individually, but the effects of these individual optimisations on other components often appear much later. Time-intensive optimisation loops are therefore necessary. In order to make the development process more efficient and thus shorten development time, AVL has developed a measurement system, called “AVL-Drive Truck”, which simultaneously acquires the operating characteristics of all relevant truck components, and, using this measured physical data, evaluates various objective performance criteria under real-life driving conditions.
