Ruolo della idropinoterapia nel trattamento medico ed extracorporeo (ESWL) della calcolosi renoureterale uratica

2002
The authors present the results of a study on the role of alkaline water therapy in the medical and ESWL treatment of renoureteral stones, for which 57 patients with uratic stones were enrolled. The patients were divided into 3 groups according to their metabolic and stone characteristics. Those in the 1 s t group were treated with alkalisation and non-specific water with a low mineral content, while those in the 2 n d and 3 r d group were treated with alkalisation and alkaline water with a low mineral content. The results of the group in the study were compared with those of a "historical" group of 149 patients with uratic stones divided according to the above criteria. The results in the study patients were better: 100%, 92% and 100% stone-free patients against 84%, 69% and 91% in groups A, B and C respectively. Clearance times were shorter in the study group. There were no important adverse reactions during medical therapy. Pre-established urinary pH values were reached with a lower alkalisation dose in the study group.
