Bicyclic Phosphite Esters from Pentaerythritol and Dipentaerythritol: New Bridging Ligands in Organometallic and Inorganic Chemistry

2004
Transesterification reactions yield bicyclic (caged) phosphite esters P(OCH 2 ) 3 CCH 2 OH (1) and (P(OCH 2 ) 3 CCH 2 ) 2 O (2), and P(OCH 2 ) 3 CCH 2 O 2 CR (R = Ph, 3; 4- t BuC 6 H 4 , 4; 4-O 2 NC 6 H 4 , 5; 3-pyridyl, 6; 4-pyridyl, 7; ½ p-C 6 H 4 , 8; ½ m-C 6 H 4 , 9; 1/3 1,3,5-C 6 H 3 , 10), which can act as ligands. Metal-bridged complexes and X-ray structures of 7, {[(η 5 -MeCp)Mn(CO) 2 ] 2 (μ-2)} (11), and [CuBr(2)] ∞ .MeCN (12) are reported.
