Why the Techniques Developed in this Book are Important? (A Few Examples of Applications)

1998
The techniques described in this book look rather complicated at first glance and may seem too long to realize for those who deal with classification studies of real geophysical data (or any other kind of data to which the techniques are applicable). Indeed, this is the price (and a rather reasonable one) for the fact that by use of the above techniques we pursue the ultimate goal of a classification study — to classify the data following the rules given by learning material and to choose the most reliable classification among those which may be accepted according to different necessary conditions.
