IASPEI Centennial: Call for Contributions: National, Institutional, and Personal

The International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth's Interior (IASPEI), one of seven associations of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG), has played an important role in organizing international meetings and collaboration to advance seismological research for nearly 100 years. In 1995 the IASPEI Committee on Education was established to help spread seismological knowledge more widely, especially through technological transfer to developing countries. At present the Committee has three ongoing projects: (1) preparing a handbook on earthquake and engineering seismology, (2) promoting training courses, and (3) organizing historical materials in seismology. Any interested person can contribute to these IASPEI efforts by contacting the project principal: (1) handbook: Willie Lee, lee{at}usgs.gov, (2) training: Peter Bormann, course{at}gfz-potsdam.de, and (3) historical materials: Graziano Ferrari, ferrari{at}sga-storiageo.it.
