On the necessity of unequivocal language in the analysis of energy confinement time in thermonuclear machines

1992
In this paper, we discuss the reasons to correct or not to correct the global energy confinement time by taking into account the non-absorption due to different loss mechanisms and examine the consequences of such corrections. In order to alleviate the growing confusion, we recommend to, at least, always state the so-called engineering' definition of the confinement time given by the ratio of plasma energy to total power injected
