Percutaneous gastrocystostomy: a new approach to pancreatic pseudocyst drainage

The preferred method for pancreatic pseudocyst drainage has been surgical gastrocystostomy [1 , 2]. However, this procedure carries increased risk in obese patients or those with cardiac disease. Recently, a percutaneous transgastric drainage technique that allows for external pseudocyst drainage has been described [3]. We describe a new technique that accomplishes internal pseudocyst drainage (gastrocystostomy), but is performed percutaneously.
