SEISMIC PERFORMANCE OF STEEL PIPE PILE WITH WINGS, A CONSTRUCTION METHOD FOR INTEGRATION WITH AN UPPER COLUMN
2018
Many studies have investigated labor-saving construction methods to improve the construction work environment and reduce environmental load. However, few studies have focused on the foundation structure. Thus, we are developing a method for integrating piles and columns that makes foundation beams unnecessary. An upper column is integrated with a steel column pile with wings that suppresses the waste soil generation. This paper reports on a full-scale bending shear test conducted to ascertain the behavior of the joint between the pile and column.
The findings are summarized below.
1)By using design criteria with a retaining lateral load-bearing joint (100% proof stress), the joint was not damaged, even when the member angle reached 1/25 rad.
2)No difference in deformation performance was observed when the joint proof stress was set at 50% or when a gap with a 1/100 gradient was generated on the pile/column contact surface.
