Modified palpabralis shortening surgery for complete congenital blepharoptosis

Objective To investigate the effect of modified palpabralis shortening surgery for congenital blepharoptosis. Methods A total of 38 eyes of 34 cases with severe congenital blepharoptosis received modified operation method of shortening palpabralis.The follow-up time was 3 to 36 months.The location of upper eyelid and the corneal conditions were evaluated. Results The surgical results were excellent in 34 eyes, and it were undercorrection in 4 eyes which received reoperation 3 months later.The complications of exposure keratitis, conjunctival prolapse or trichiasis was not found. Conclusion Modified palpabralis shortening can correct congenital blepharoptosis effectively.
