Rendering of 3D Models Based on BSSRDF: A Survey

2021
Rendering has been widely used in recent years, such as 3D movies, games, semi-permeable materials, and skins. There has been a large amount of the literature on this topic in the early stage, accompanied by experiments as evidence. This article focuses on a structured review of the rendering of BSSRDF in different applications. We propose a classification approach based on a summary of three broad categories of BSSRDF models: physics-based, experience-based, and data-driven. We analyze which scenario these three methods are most suitable for and compare, categorize, and summarize them. These three models can improve the overall efficiency of time, experiment, and results when rendering different materials so that practical and convenient models can be found more quickly. Despite some limitations and shortcomings in experiments, it is the best model to apply to the sense of reality reduction.
