Atmospheric turbulence still accounts for a significant percentage of weather-related aircraft incidents in Norway. A turbulence modelling project is run by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute in cooperation with SINTEF. A nested model system designed for forecasting atmospheric turbulence has been developed. From mid 2007 the system has been operated for seven airports in Norway. Report 2, 2008 (Midtbo et. al., 2008) presents the system and gives verification results for the last months of 2007.
