Research on Test Case Prioritization for Regression Testing

Test case prioritization is an effective and validity technique of regression testing.To solve the problem of how to choose and use test cases in regression testing,a test case prioritization technique and a prioritization algorithm were proposed in this paper.Three factors related to software fault were taken into account in the technique for ranking test cases.The factors are rate of fault detection,fault impact and fault type.In this paper,the average of percentage of detected faults was used as a measurement criterion.Compared the prioritized test case with the non prioritized one,the experimental results show that the efficiency of regression testing is improved and the better software quality is achieved by using this technique.
