Calculation of the Acoustic Nonlinearity Parameter B/A for Linear Alkanes by the Lee-Kesler Correlation
2006
The acoustic nonlinearity parameter B/A is calculated for four linear alkanes (normal pentane, normal hexane, normal heptane, and normal octane) over a temperature range from 273 K to 473 K and a pressure range from 0.1 to 100 MPa by using the Lee-Kesler correlation. The calculated results are in good agreement with the experimental data in the literature with a standard deviation of 6.9%. The temperature and pressure dependences of B/A are presented and discussed. The influence of carbon chain on the relative change in B/A over a certain pressure range is addressed.
