International Legal Protection of Migrant Workers, National Minorities and Indigenous Peoples - Comparing Underlying Concepts
2002
The paper answers two questions: 1) What exactly are the differences between the core concepts in international legal instruments protecting migrants, national minorities and indigenous peoples? 2) What has been the influence of the general inclusiveness of human rights instruments on these instruments? To put it differently, the aim of the paper is to investigate to what extent the high aspirations of the first generation of general human rights documents are taken into account in the specific international legal instruments which have been developed over the years for migrants and for (persons belonging to) national minorities and indigenous peoples.
