A radiotherapy in the treatment of non-melanoma skin cancers

2018
Skin cancers are the most common of all malignancies. The most important risk factor for these tumors is long term sun (UV radiation) exposure. The most common is basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma is less common, while other histological types belongs in group of rare tumors. Surgery is first option in the treatment, but radiotherapy gives good results in primary radical approach, too. Radiation therapy has significant role in adjuvant approach and also in case of reccurent desease. In diseminated disease, chemotherapy is applied, but with limited effect.
