Human impact on distribution of soldier crab (Dotilla wichmanni)

2009
Distribution and density of soldier crab in 7 sandy beach at Phetchaburi and Prachuabkirikhan Province were studied. Each study area had different degree of human activities such as the construction, tourist and pollution. The impact from pollution which caused habitat destruction were the most serious problem to the distribution and density of soldier crab. The Tourist trampling had no direct effect to distribution and density of soldier crab. The ecological study of soldier crab about burrow construction behavior showed the ability of the burrowing and making trenchs for avoiding form the tourist. The beach profile, grain size and theirs behavior might play more important role on to the distribution and density of soldier crab than the human impact.
