Growth and characterization of ferroelectric Ba1-x Ca x TiO3 single crystals

Abstract Barium Calcium Titanate (Ba1-x Ca x TiO3) single crystals with various concentrations of calcium have been grown by high temperature solution growth technique using KF as solvent. The growth conditions were optimized for 12, 16 and 20 mole % of calcium. Concentric spiral growth and hopper structure were observed on the grown crystals. The variation in dielectric constant, refractive index and absorption coefficient for different Ca concentration has been reported.
