Effects of Cold Deformation on N Ion Implantation of 1Cr18Ni9Ti Austenitic Stainless Steel

2010
The effects of cold deformation on nitrogen ion implantation of 1Cr18Ni9Ti austenitic stainless steel were studied. The results show that the cold deformation process can accelerate the nitrogen ion implantation. The nitrogen ion implantation can not affect the strengthened results of the cold deformation, but it can form a nitrogen-containing austenite-γN,which can cause lattice distortion and residual compression stress in the surface layer of the steel and improve the surface hardness and fatigue properties of the steel sequentially. The compound strengthening of cold deformation and nitrogen ion implantation can obtain the optimal cooperation of integral and surface properties of 1Cr18Ni9Ti austenitic stainless steel.
