Vacuum system with magnetic-discharge pumps for pulsed hydrogen injection

1975
In a study of the dynamics of the hydrogen pressure in the vacuum chamber of the injector of an I-100 linear proton accelerator with pulsed hydrogen injection into the ion source and evacuation by magnetic-discharge pumps, satisfactory agreement is found between experimental and calculated results. The experimental curves of the pressure changes in the injector chamber are used to determine the hydrogren load per pulse, the pressure in the source, the transmitting capacity of the exit channel of the source, the pumping rate of the pumps, and other properties of the system.
