La rilevanza dell'amore nel consenso matrimoniale

The article deals with the relevance of love in the act of matrimonial consent by calling to mind magisterial, doctrinal and jurisprudential advancements, which are in turn examined in light of Pope Francis' apostolic exhortation Amoris laetitia. Love, though not coinciding with the bonum coniugum, is an expression of conjugality and of those aspects of conjugality that are manifested in married life, without ever becoming an object of matrimonial choice or an indispensable element for the manifestation of a valid consent, however fundamental it may be to the sacrament of marriage.
