Research on Laser Welding of Ti Alloys with Activating Flux

Activating flux-laser beam welding process for Ti alloys was proposed. For laser welding of Ti alloys, several common oxides and fluorides(SiO2, Cr2O3, TiO2, B2O3, NaF, CaF2) were taken as activating flux. The results show that the depth of seam in laser welding of Ti alloys is increased by activating welding, and the laser-induced plasma is suppressed.The microstructure and the microhardness of laser welding layer are fine.
