Extraspinal Stimulation and Recording: A Method for Operative Monitoring

1985
Although the monitoring of cortical Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SEPs) during operations on the spine and spinal cord of humans has proven to be a useful surgical adjunct [3, 4, 7, 8, 26], the technique’s well known limitations and the occasional reports of false findings [1, 16, 21] have led to active investigations and operative monitoring applications of the recording of spinal cord evoked potentials (SCEPs). The level of activity in this area is well documented by the previous [10] and present international symposium on the subject.
